3rd Year USF Medical Students

The emergency medicine clerkship is now part of the mandatory third year curriculum. Each group of approximately 10 USF medical students will be assigned a schedule at the beginning of the rotation. The clerkship is comprised of 8 hour shifts in our adult and pediatric emergency care centers as well as our "minor emergency" area. There are also built in teaching days for procedures, general EM topics and the state of the art simulation lab. All questions pertaining to the third year clerkship rotation should be directed to Dr. Tracy Sanson.

4th Year USF and Visiting Medical Students

There are 5 spaces each rotation period for fourth year medical students. USF medical students have priority for these spots. Outside medical students are accommodated based on availability and successful completion of the rotation application through the USF College of Medicine Registrar's office. The contact point for this application is Marrissa Cook at (813) 974-0828. Once the application for externship is approved by the registrar, it is forwarded to the Department of Emergency Medicine for final approval by the MS4 Clerkship Director.

The clerkship director is a PGY-3 EM resident and is responsible for scheduling and final approval of the application. This rotation operates on the USF college of medicine's academic calendar, we accept only students that will be able to match our dates. This calendar can be found on the USF college of medicine homepage. All questions pertaining to this rotation for the 2008-2009 academic year should be directed to Dr. Rahul Salooja.
